Tuesday the 27th of November 1716 The [South Carolina] Court of Admiralty met according to Appointment ... Virginia [sloop taken to Virginia and returned to SC?]: Henry Teague late of Plimouth and John Pew late of Richmond in Surry Marriners, On the second Day of August in the Third year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King - Defender of the Faith &ct. Did against the Peace of God and our said Sovereign Lord the King that now is by force of Arms, upon the High and open Seas in a certain place about fifteen Leagues from Harbour Island in the Bahamas and within the Jurisdiction of this Court of Vice Admiralty Piratically and feloniously Sett upon one David Adams a Subject of our said Sovereign Lord the King that now is being then and there Comander of a certain Merchant Sloop Called the Providence Carrying ffour Guns belonging to Messrs William Gibbon & Andrew Allen of Charles Town in the Province of South Carolina Merchants Subjects of our Said King that now is then and there put the said David Adams in Bodily fear of his Life and there within the Jurisdiction aforesaid feloniously and piratically did Steal Take and Carry away from the said David Adams the aforesaid Sloop Called the Providence her Tackle furniture and apparel of the Value of Eight hundred pounds four Guns sundry Barrels Pork, Beef, Flower, Rum, and Sugar to the Value of ffour hundred pounds in the Possession of the said David Adams then being, the Sloop, Goods, and Chattels of the said Messrs William Gibbon and Andrew Allen Subjects of our Said Sovereign Lord the King and against the peace of our said now Sovereign Lord the King his Crown and Dignity And then the Court Adjourned till the next day ten of the Clock in the forenoon
Wednesday the 28th Instant The Court met according to Adjournment and the Grand Jury returned the Indictment Billa Vera And then the Court Adjourned for Two hours The Court met according to Adjournment

And George North, James Vaughan, William Boddy, Benjamin Edmonds, Andrew Hale, Primus Joley, Daniel Kenard, Henry Teague & John Pew were severally Arraigned upon the said Indictment and Pleaded not Guilty And for their Tryal put themselves upon God and their Country And then the Court Adjourned till the next day Two of the Clock in the Afternoon
Thursday the 29th... The Court met Accordingly
And the said George North, James Vaughan, William Boddy, Benjamin Edmonds, Andrew Hall, Primus Jolly, Daniel Kenard, Henry Teague and John Pew were brought to the Bar in order to their Tryal but Prayed the Court that their Tryal might ne put of till the next day they alledging they had several persons to Appear in their Defense which was Granted Accordingly. Then, the Court Adjourned till next day ten of the Clock in the forenoon
Friday the 30th Instant
The Court met according to Adjournment And the said George North, James Vaughan, William Boddy, Benjamin Edmonds, Andrew Hall, Primus Jolly, Daniel Kenard, Henry Teague and John Pew were brought upon their Tryals The Names of the Petit Jury were as followeth 1 Robt Tradd foreman 5 Ralph Elmes 9 Richard Singleton 2 Richard Fairchild 6 Isaac Brunston Senr. 10 Edmond Jarvis 3 Robert Bridgewater 7 James Hartley 11 Paul Morris 4 Moses Cockfield 8 Stephen Douse 12 Thomas Bruce
Who brought in their Verdict that the said George North, James Vaughan, William Boddy, Benjamin Edmonds, Andrew Hall, Primus Jolly, Daniel Kenard, Henry Teague and John Pew were not Guilty Then the abovesaid prisoners were Discharged paying their fees only James Vaughan, William Boddy, & Andrew Hall belonging to his Maties Ship Shoram the Honble Capt. Thomas Howard Comander they were Ordered on board the said Ship.
