In the Name of God Amen

I Thomas Thache of the Parish of St. George in the County of Middlesex Mariner being weak in Body but of sound and disposing mind memory and Understanding (praised be God for the same) do for avoiding all controversies after my decease make and publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

ffirst I recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my Body & commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors herein after named and as to such Worldly Estate as it has pleased God to bless me with L20 give devise bequeath and dispose thereof as follows

ffirst I Will that all my just Debts ffuneral Expenses and the Charges of Proving this my last Will and Testament be in the first place well and truly paid satisfyed and discharged

/Item/ I give and bequeath unto Mr. Robert Carey of the Parish of St. George aforesaid Peruke [wig] maker (in whose house I now lodge) my Watch and my Mourning Ring set with Sparkes and Diamonds

/Item I give unto Mrs. Carey wife of the said Robert Carey ten Guineas to buy her Mourning

/Item I give to Captain John Campbell of New Hermitage Street in the Parish aforesaid my Gold headed Cane

/Item I give unto Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of Mile end old town the Sum of One hundred pounds

/Item I give to Mr. Joseph Aguilar of the Island of Jamaica Merchant the Sum of Ten Pounds

/Item all the rest and residue of my Lands Tenements houses Stocks plate Jewells Rings Watches Wearing Apparel both Linnen and Woolen Books Moneys and Securitys for money Debts and Effects And all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate both Real and Personal wheresoever the same may be or of whatsover the same may consist I do give devise and bequeath the same unto my two kinsmen Edward and John Valiscure of the Island of Jamaica aforesaid their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever to be equally divided between them

And I do hereby constitute and appoint the said Robert Carey John Campbell and Joseph Aguilar [John Barrister and Joseph Aguilar both of the parish of St. Catherine's  were executors to will of Thomas’ mother Lucretia Thache] joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament

And Lastly I do hereby revoke all former and other Wills Testaments and Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this to be my only last Will and Testament &rs -

Witness whereof I the said Thomas Thache the Testator to this my last Will and Testament have set my hand and Seal the thirty first day of December in the twenty first year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the ffaith and so forth and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and forty eight

Thomas Thache - Signed Sealed published and declared by the said Testator Thomas Thache as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of Us who have Subscribed our Names as Witnesses hereunto in the presence and at the request of the said Testator - David Campbell - John Ramsay - Tho.s Cotton attorney in Red Lion Street Wapping

 

This Will was proved at London on the twenty seventh day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and forty eight [1749] before the Worshipfull Robert Chapman Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipfull John Bettesworth Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Robert Carey one of the Executors named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased he being first Sworn duly to Administer (power reserved of making the like Grant to John Campbell and Joseph Aguilar the other Executors named in the said Will when they or either of them shall apply for the same. &xd.
