Att a high Court of Admiralty held at the Town of Old Road at The hous of Mr. Denis Cahill Vintner Before the Honoble William Wooddrope Esq:r Judge Surrogate of the Said Court of fifth Day of July in ye fourth Year of his Majesties Reign Anno ye Dom. 1718
??ten the Svall? is Proposeth The Court being Satt The following Information Was Exhibited and read- St Christophers Set/ Memorandum That On the fifth Day of July In the fourth Year of the Reign of Oar [Our] Soverigne Lord George by ye Grace of God of Great Brittaine ffrance and Ireland King Defender of ye faith &t - Frances Hume Esq:r Commander of his Said Maj:ties Ship of Was Called the Scarborough in his proper Person Came into this Co[as]:t What is To Say into ye high Court of Admiralty of our S:d Lord ye King in ye Sd Island of S:t Christophers And Gave ye C[our].t To Understand and be Informed that he the Said Frances Hume in ye S.d Ship of War ye Scarborough On ye Twelfth Day of June Now Last part in ye Seas Under ye Jurisdiction & Dominion of Our Sd Lord the King in America Did Meet with Attack Subdue and Took a Certain Ship Called The Blanco Pirate Commanded by One Lewis Le Bour of ffrench Nation a Pirate and Robber and Manned w:th Eighty Men all Pirates and Robbers & Allsoe a Mounted w.th Sicty Gunns and fitted for Robbery and Piracy Upon the Seas And ye Said ffrances Hume in fact Saith that ye Said Ship at the afores:d Time of ye Caption thereof And Long before Was a Pirate Ship And for that Purpose filled And Manned by ye Said Pirates & Robbers And ye Said ffrances Hume further in fact Doth Averr that ye Said Pirates And Robbers in ye Said Ship by ye force thereof Did Since ye ffifth Day of June Now Last Past being being ye Same Time Liminitted [delimitted?] in his Said Majesties Royall Proclamation of Pardon of all Piracies Committed before ye fifth January /Provided Such Pirates Surrendered Them Selves on or before ye ffifth Day of September Now Next Coming Committ Divers Piracies & Robberys and Piratically Did Attack Take & Robb Divers Ships & Vessells belonging To ye Subjects of Our Sd Lord the King and To Others in Leage Amity & freind Ship w.th him Wherefore ye Sd Frances Hume Prays this Judgm.t of the Court here In ye Primises & that ye Said Ship Called ye Blanco Pirate wth all her Tackles Apparrell furniture Gunns & Lading May be Adjudged To him the Sd Frances Hume As Lawfull Prize and Purchase Thomas Butler
Edw.d Hunt a Saylor, Late belonging To ye Sloop Boneeta of Nevis Whereof James Davis was Master Deposeth that on or about ye Eleventh of June Last past being then w:th ye Sd Sloop at An Anchor at ye Island of Blanco Pirate Ship Commanded by one Lewis Le Buor a ffrench Man & Manned w:th a Bout Seventy or Eighty Men & Mounted w:th Six Gunns Did attack & Take The Said Sloop Boneeta and Did Put on Board her Some goods and Went a board her Armed w:th Masiretts Cutlasses and Pistolls And further This Deponent Saithe that on the Next day his Majestees Shipp The Scarborough Frances Hume Esq.r Com:dr did Take the S:d Pirate Ship ay Blanco aforesaid & that ye S:d Lewis Le Bour & about ffifty of the Said Pirates finding they Could not With Stand ye Man of Warr Quitted her & Went aboard the Said Sloop & Made their Escape Therein haveing first put on board her a Considerable Quantity of Gold & Silver as this Deponent Was Informed by Some of the Pirates Who Were Taken on board The Said Pirate Ship - Sworn before me this Edward Hunt fifth Day of July 1718 William Wooddrop Judge Surrogate
James Moor a Saylor Late belonging To ye Sloop Boneeto of Nevis Whereof James Davis was then Master Deposeth That on or about the Eleventh of June Last past being then w.th ye Sd Sloop at An Anchor at ye Island of Blanco a Pirate Ship Commanded by one Lewis Le Bour, a ffrench Man and Manned w.th about Seventy or Eighty Men Mounted w.th Six Gunns Did attack & Take ye Said Sloop Boneeta And Did Put on Board her Same Goods & Went aboard her Armed w.th Musketts Cutlasses & Pistolls & further this Deponent Saith that ye Next Day his Majties Ship the Scarbrough Frances Hume Esqr Commander did Take ye Said Pirate Ship at Blanco aforesaid & that ye Said Lewis Le Bour & about ffifty of the Said Pirates finding they Could not Withstand the Man of War, Quitted her And Went aboard ye Sd Sloop and Made therein James Moor Sworn before me this ffifth Day of July 1718 William Wooddrop Judge Surrogate
Thomas Hall belonging To his Majesties Ship the Scarbrough Frances Hume Esq.r Commander Deposeth That on or about ye Twelfth Day of June Now Last past the Said Captaine Hume did in ye Said Ship at ye Island of Blanco Take a Pirate Ship Now Called ye Blanco Pirate Saith that he Was ye Second Person that boarded The Said Pirate Ship w.ch Said Pirate Ship Was Mounted w:th Six Gunns And this Deponent further Saith That Lewis Le Bour (who as this Deponent hath been Informed Commanded ye Said Ship) Quitted her Before the Man of Warr boarded her and w.th a Great Many of the Pirates Escaped in ye Boneeta Sloop of Nevis which the Said Pirates in the Said Ship had ye Day before Taken As ye Said Captaine Hume hath Brought the Said Pirate Ship and Seventeen Pirates Taken in her into the Road of St Christophers Tho:s Hall Sworne Before me this ffifth Day of July 1718 William Wooddrop Judge Surrogate
Which Said Information being Read and the Proof being full Whereby It Appeareth that the Matters in the Said Information Contained are True And after Mature Deliberation of the Primisses had it is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid Pirate Ship Called the Blanco Pirate Together with all her Tackle Apparrell ffurniture Gunns and Lading be and the Same Are hereby Sentenced Adjudged and Decreed To be Lawfull Prize and Purchase To him the Said Frances Hume Esq:r Saveing To Our Said Sovereigne Lord the King his Heirs and Successors his and Their Just Claim and right of and in the Primesses And Also Saveing To Every other Person their Just Right Therein and Thereto - A true Copy attested by one John Ledaile [Le daile?] Sen:r Fra: Hume Register
