This Season of the Year being Very Dangerous for hurricanes and My Ground Tackling not Extraordinary Good I believe it Will be for the Safety of his Maj.ties Ship that I Move out of this road Dureing this Trouble Some Season

I take leve To Acquaint Yo.r Excellency that it is Generally beliveed Sure by those better Verst in the Nature of Hurricans than My Selfe that there is Some Deal of foul Weather this Ensueing Month. Desire that if there May Not be Some More Particular Service for my Continuing here for What I at presant Can Conceive I May Goe Toe St. Lucia Whereof I Can Secure his Maj:tie Ship Und.r my Com:d the better from bad Accidents of that Nature / I would Likewise Desire Yo.r Excellency relateing To French or English Vessells That May be at the Said Island of St. Lucia in Case I Should Discover Any of Sd Vessells Without Nessesary Passes and Whether I May Seize them and bring them hither for Their Tryall as Likewise Whether it May be Proper for Me To Oblidge the King of Frances Subjects who have Made Severall Settlements in that Island To remove The Oceasour of My Desireing Yo.r Excellency's Dircetions [Directions] a bout Trading Vessells &c As that I May Not be Seam'd Remiss in Makeing the Nessesary representations as Likewise To prevent Ground less Complaints Against My Conduct In the Discharge of My Duty w.ch I Shall at all Times Ecdeavour to be Master of [-]      I am                                                                  Yo.r Excellencys &c
